01-13.11.2020

As it nears the end of summer, SORGENFRI has chosen to pay homage to the superb, and to the enduring influence, of Norwegian craftsmanship within jewelry by hosting the show NORWEGIAN BLING: hand crafted by Norwegian artists.  The group exhibition will be held at SORGENFRI, Sorgenfrigaten, 1th – 13st of September.

SORGENFRI’s curating of Norwegian jewelry is consistent with the gallery’s philosophy of supporting cultural crafts in the border line between design and art.

The jewelry on display are all wearable art pieces. They represent the vision of SORGENFRI: -unisex, yet still ultrafeminine to very rough, -fine new materials versa re-use, -ancient crafts skills versa fresh ideas found in everyday life, -thoughtfully made last month versa skillfully made decades ago. The materials in questions are precious metals and stones to organic materials and reused plastics. Earrings, necklaces, bracelets, rings, glasses, and body pieces to mention a few of the styles that will be shown.

The sculpture-like objects are displayed on tailored, mobile installations made in special cooperation with HINL; Oslo based creative studio developing a fine retail display system called SORTING NORWEGIAN BLING especially for SORGENFRI. They use waste of foam rubber, steel, stone, clay and protective equipment as a parallel theme mirroring the BLING itself.  Showing the beauty of materials and objects found in the art ateliers and artist’s workspaces.

SORGENFRI seeks to focus public attention on the artistry of jewelry design and to stimulate a greater understanding and appreciation of the jeweler’s creative impact throughout history. In addition to giving you a reason to shine even after the summer ends.

A selection of the jewelry exhibited will be presented online at SORGENFRI.STORE, available to ship worldwide.
